Reactions have trailed the 2023 presidential declaration of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
Naija News earlier reported that Emefiele obtained the presidential nomination and expression of interest form of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.
It was gathered that Emefiele picked the N100 million forms from the party’s organising secretary at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, on.
The purchase of the APC presidential form by Emefiele puts to rest speculation that he is plotting to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
Naija News reports that the Delta-born banker becomes the first central bank governor to seek an elective position while in office.
The CBN Governor joins a long list of APC members ready to battle it out for the ruling party’s presidential ticket.
Nigerian have taken to social media to express their views regarding the development and if it is constitutional for a sitting apex bank boss to seek elective office.

BREAKING: Following reports that the CBN governor Mr Godwin Emefiele has picked the APC N100m presidential nomination form, we urge him to immediately resign his position in line with S. 9 of the CBN Act.
Engaging in politics will conflict with/detract from his full-time duties.Advertisement

So, Godwin Emefiele picked the form to contest for president of Nigeria in 2023. And he still has a job as CBN governor? Nigeria is a useless place.Advertisement

Emefiele is now poking his fingers at us and our law. This is just beyond contemplation, reason, and logic that a sitting CBN Governor is not only a closet member of a political party, he's actively taking part in a partisan contest in defiance of Section 1 (3) of https://t.co/N3bUoYRAJIAdvertisement

Every concerned Nigerian should worry about dangerous precedents being set by Emefiele the sitting CBN Governor and Malami the AGF.Advertisement

IG of Police or Chief of Army Staff could decide to run for president while actively commanding thousands of armed personnel, and nothing would happen.Advertisement
This is the precedent being set by Emefiele.

CBN Governor destroyed the Naira & institutionalized arbitrage in the forex market. He restricted Fintechs & blocked bank account of peaceful EndSARS protesters. So where did Godwin Emefiele get the N100m for his APC presidential form? Any limit to this N100m declaration madness?

Shouldn't Emefiele have resigned first before picking form? Which company does he own that he could cough out 100m?Advertisement

This #APC presidential form situation reminds me of when celebrities were falling over themselves to gift Davido N1m. That was even reasonable. This one, I don't understand o.Advertisement
It's like a contest to show who has N100m to spray.

The audacity of Emefiele, a serving CBN Governor to obtain the presidential form of the APC shows there’s no one in charge of Nigeria at the moment. Buhari is just existing in Asorock with no clues as to what is going on under his nose. This brazen impunity scares me.
