Unknown Gunmen: “Insecurity progressive with politics” – Umahi

Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has claimed that some politicians in the southeast region are happy with the current state of insecurity in the zone.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, monitored by POLITICS NIGERIA, Umahi chided individuals from the opposition he said wants the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to fail.
Some public affairs commentators say the dramatic surge in the activities of the criminals described as ‘unknown gunmen’ is a result of separatist agitation and associated repressive state responses, as well as the designation by the federal government of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist organisation.
Umahi bares his thoughts on the security threat in the southeast.
“The level of insecurity in southeast is progressive with political activities. There are some politicians that are benefitting from insecurity, and they tend to encourage it,” he said.
The governor added: “You also have the issue of the leaders not speaking out. Low level of patriotism. People that believe that if APC government fails, it is good for them, without knowing that if there is no country, Nigeria, then there is no political party.”
