Toyota Fortuner GR-S debuts in India, Price starts at Rs 48.43 lakh

Toyota has launched the new Fortuner GR-S SUV variant in India. It’s price starts at Rs 48.43 lakh. The new SUV is the most expensive variant of the Fortuner SUV now. The GR in the Fortuner GR-S stands for Gazoo Racing Sport, Toyota’s performance arm. The Fortuner GR-S has received cosmetic upgrades and offers more features, and even a GR-tuned suspension system.

Toyota Fortuner GR-S Price

With the addition of the GR-S, the Toyota Fortuner now comes in three variants in India including the standard model that is priced from Rs 31.79 lakh and the Legender model that costs at Rs 40.91 lakh.

Toyota Fortuner GR-S features  

The Fortuner GR-S has received cosmetic enhancements that differentiates it from the standard Fortuner and the Legender. The Fortuner GR-S comes sports a new front grille, tweaked front and rear bumpers, all-black alloy wheels, and GR badges on the grille, fenders and boot lid. It is being offered in two exterior shades: Attitude Black and Pearl White.

The new GR-S have got an all-black interior with contrasting red stitching and GR-specific seats inside the cabin. It also has the GR badging on the leather wrapped steering wheel and start-stop button, a new instrument cluster and sportier looking pedals. Apart from these it comes with a wireless charger,  an 11-speaker JBL sound system, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate and an 8.0-inch infotainment system.  Its safety features includes seven airbags, vehicle stability control, hill-assist control, and traction control.

Toyota Fortuner GR-S: powertrain details 

The India-spec Fortuner GR-S comes with a 204hp, 2.8-litre diesel engine paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission with four-wheel drive. A petrol variant will not be available.

Toyota Fortuner GR-S: rivals

The GR-S rivals the MG Gloster and Mahindra Alturas in the Indian market. The Fortuner will soon take on the upcoming monocoque-based Jeep Meridian SUV, and the GR-S could be Toyota’s attempt to increase the variants in the Fortuner line-up to make it more tempting, just before the arrival of the Meridian.
