Soldiers Kill Two Top ISWAP Leaders

Two leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been killed in airstrike attacks by the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

The ISWAP leaders killed have been identified as the group’s Chief of Defence (Ameeru-l-Fiha), Bako Gorgore and a prominent leader in the LakeChad Aba-Ibrahim.

Gorgore, who was also a member of the Shura Council, was the leader of the ISWAP Militant forces, comprising of four Fiye (service Chiefs), four Governors (Khaids), 16 Commanding Officers (Nakib), Special Forces (alquwwat alkhasa), among others.

Naija News understands the terrorist leaders were killed during the week-long coordinated intelligence-led ground and aerial bombardments by the Air Task Force in Tumbum Jaki in Abadam local government area of Borno State.

The development was confirmed by a counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama who cited military sources in his reports.

The report added that the combined operation between troops of DESERT SANITY and the MNJTF LAKE SANITY against identified Boko Haram/ISWAP strongholds in the Lake Chad has continued to yield positive results as many of the terrorists have been killed and their strongholds destroyed.

Earlier in the week, it will be recalled that ISWAP reportedly gunned down one of its top Commanders, Abu Sadiq popularly known as Burbur.

Burbur was the Deputy Militant Chief in Charge of Sambisa Forest and Timbuktu Triangle, and former Aide-de-Camp to late Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.

He was in charge of coordinating attacks on military formations and towns including Michika, Madagali, Askira Uba and other parts of Adamawa State.

As one of Shekau’s most trusted lieutenants, Bubur was always seen standing in the background in the late Boko Haram leader’s videos.

Naija News learnt that the ISWAP Operation Commander was killed over his alleged betrayal and purported plans to surrender to the Nigerian military.
