Why Casting Male Agents Could Make Selling Sunset Season 6 Next Level

Selling Sunset has become a household name after five seasons, and with a sixth already confirmed, Netflix casting male Oppenheim Group agents could make the show even more successful. Since premiering in 2019, fans of Selling Sunset have enjoyed getting to know Jason and Brett Oppenheim, along with their West Hollywood brokerage, The Oppenheim Group. While the program has become a quintessential show for showing off luxurious California properties, Selling Sunset has also become known for its heaping scoop of drama between cast members.
In fact, the fast popularity of Selling Sunset has already led Netflix to produce two up-and-coming spin-off series. The first, Selling Tampa, focuses on Sharelle Rosado’s brokerage, Allure Realty, in Florida and debuted season 1 last December. And while Selling Tampa season 2 hasn’t been announced yet, there’s a good chance that it could arrive later this year. The second spin-off Selling The OC was announced shortly before Selling Tampa began streaming. Viewers got a first look at The Oppenheim Group’s new office in Newport Beach at the end of the Selling Sunset season 5 reunion and are excited that the cast is set to introduce four male realtors: Austin Victoria, Gio Helou, Sean Palmieri, and Tyler Stanaland.
Selling The OC is the first series to include male realtors, besides the Oppenheim brothers, in the franchise, and Selling Sunset could benefit from expanding its cast the same way. By switching up the main cast of women to include men in the mix, the show could improve criticisms that Selling Sunset focuses too much on drama, not real estate. This conflict was more prevalent than ever during season 5, which saw definitive alliances drawn: Christine Quinn and Selling Sunset newcomer Chelsea Lazkani against Chrishell Stause, Mary Fitzgerald, Heather Rae Young, and Emma Hernan. Selling Sunset is a reality show that has to visually stimulate viewers for successful ratings since many simply check into the program to look at the properties. Casting male agents for season 6 may alleviate some of the arguments and put the focus back on the real estate market.

Additionally, adding men from The Oppenheim Group to the show would not just present an obvious opportunity for new storylines but would easily shake up the close-knit cast. Brett, Jason, Mary, Christine, Heather, and Chrishell have all been a part of Selling Sunset season 1, with Emma and Vanessa Villela joining Selling Sunset season 4. There have been two males besides the Oppenheim brothers who have been featured on the show, but neither have contributed nearly as much to the actual business of real estate: Romain Bonnet, Mary’s husband, and Peter Cornell, an Oppenheim agent who was more well known for being in a love triangle with Christine and Emma during season 4. Since most of the cast have been around since day one, introducing fresh faces is important to keep Selling Sunset from becoming too routine.
With over 40 realtors at The Oppenheim Group, there are plenty of male real estate agents that could join Selling Sunset season 6, especially since Christine has already quit the brokerage and the show. One realtor in particular that fans hope to see one day is Kane Lim, who already stars on Netflix’s Bling Empire. Although Selling Sunset season 6 still has a while to go, anything is possible, including last-minute cast changes. In the meantime, those interested in Selling The OC can re-watch the trailer to get a taste of the entertainment a mixed-gender cast can bring.
