SASSA SRD R350 Grant News Today April 1st, 2022
SASSA recently announced that they would be making modifications to when SASSA funding will be paid. However, one must then consider whether these changes will have an impact on R350 grant payment dates.
Sassa just made a statement last week announcing that they would begin paying Sassa grants on the second of the month.
Does this, however, alter or apply to payments made under the Special Relief of Distress (SRD) grant?
Beneficiaries of Sassa have inquired about this and have received the following response:
These changes are for the normal social grants, not the special COVID-19 SRD grant.
We can then be certain that any grant payment dates which exist for the R350 grant would then remain the same.
It’s important to remember that the R350 grant is not paid on days when other grants are paid. There is however no set payment date for SRD grant payments, especially when it comes to those who receive it through a bank account.
Should you have chosen to receive your SRD grant through the post office, the day you can fetch your R350 grant is dependent on the last three digits of your ID number.
In speaking on the changes made, Sassa added that if the second day of the month happens to be during the weekend or public holiday, payments will be made on the following working day.
The agency further stated that they will follow the usual procedure of first prioritizing the pay of older persons and linked grants, followed by disability grants the next day and then child grants.
