Pokémon GO: Water Festival 2022 Timed Research Tasks & Rewards

The Water Festival 2022 is a global event in Pokémon GO, featuring the scarf-wearing variant for Lapras, Dewpider, and Araquanid. This event will last from Thursday, May 12, 10:00 a.m. to Friday, May 20, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Along with the debut of these three new Pokémon, the Legendary Tapu Fini will also appear in Raids. Additionally, the Pokémon GO Shiny variant of Binacle can potentially spawn in the wild.
Pokémon GO Trainers who participate in the Water Festival 2022 can work with other players to complete the Event’s Global Challenge of catching 600,000,000 Water-type Pokémon. While monumental in scope, this immense task will be worth the effort for participants, as its reward offers double the Candy for catching Pokémon. This challenge will be available from Wednesday, May 11, at 1:00 p.m. to Saturday, May 21, at 1:00 a.m. PDT. Moreover, the Season of Alola’s fourth Special Research story, “Poni Island Special Research,” will be available on Tuesday, May 10, from 10:00 a.m. local time.
Naturally, the Water Festival 2022 will feature Timed Research Events and quests throughout its time frame, during which Trainers can earn 50 Mega Energy for Gyarados, 1,000 XP, 1,000 Stardust, and unique encounters with the new Lapras skin and Dewpider in Pokémon GO. It is also possible for Lapras to be a Shiny Pokémon. These tasks include Missions such as “Catch three Water-type Pokémon,” “Spin five PokéStops or Gym,” or “Win a raid.” While most tasks and their rewards have yet to be announced, players can expect to receive prizes such as Potions, Special Encounters, Battle Passes, Stardust, and XP.
