Odisha Vigilance arrests Balangir Forester while accepting bribe

Balangir: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended the Forester, Sindhekela Beat under Bangomunda Forest Range in Balangir district while demanding and accepting a bribe.

The Forester has been identified as Harihar Swain.

Acting on a tip-off, the Sambalpur anti-corruption team laid a trap against Harihar while demanding and accepting cash of Rs.1,00,300/- from laborers working under different projects of Forest Department.

The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from Harihar’s possession.

A case has been registered in this connection with Sambalpur Vigilance under section 7 (b) of The Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

Till the last reports came in, cash Rs 1,72,550.0 was recovered during ongoing house searches being carried out at the locations of Harihar Swain. Further details are awaited.
