My Resignation Letter Never Existed – Ngige Fires Femi Falana

The Senator Chris Ngige Media Office has slammed Femi Falana (SAN) for claiming that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Ngige, withdrew his resignation letter after the valedictory session with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Falana had slammed Ngige and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, for allegedly withdrawing their resignation letters in order to remain members of the cabinet.
Falana had stated, “The resignation of any person from any office established by this constitution shall take effect when the writing signifying the resignation is received by the authority or person to whom it is addressed or by any person authorised by that authority or person to receive it.
“Since the resignation of the former ministers has taken effect, they cannot return to the cabinet either of their own volition or on the directive of the President.”
Reacting in a statement on Sunday, Ngige’s officer stated that no resignation letter written by the minister ever existed.
The office accused Femi Falana of embarrassing the public with “a bad harvest of his bumper imagination.”
It said, “Dear Femi Falana (SAN), you conjured a resignation letter, hung it on Senator Chris Ngige and went to town with it. That is very bad.
“Get your facts right, sir. First is that the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, neither authored nor submitted a resignation letter to the President or any other person authorised by him. Therefore, the resignation letter you referred to does not exist.’’
Recall that President Buhari directed ministers with political ambition to turn in their resignation on or before May 16.
The development saw some ministers submit their resignation letters, while President Buhari met with the outgoing ministers on Friday.
Ngige, however, announced his withdrawal from the 2023 presidential election in order to focus on his work.
The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami also withdrew from the Kebbi governorship race.
