Hello and welcome to our live coverage of this year’s FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool.

The two sides met in the League Cup final earlier this year with Liverpool winning the match on penalties after a goalless draw.

Thomas Tuchel will be hoping to exact revenge on compatriot Jurgen Klopp when the two sides meet again at Wembley Stadium today.

For only the second time in the competition’s history, the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool will face the two teams that played for the League Cup trophy against each other.

On paper, this isn’t a terribly compelling matchup, but the way these two teams battled in February’s epic final at Wembley whets the anticipation.

After League Cup winners Arsenal doubled up on Wembley victory over Sheffield Wednesday the only other time, in 1992/93, history may be on the Reds’ side.

Indeed, a 0-0 draw has rarely been so entertaining, and there has been so little to separate the two teams all season, even in the Premier League. Despite Liverpool’s comfortable advantage over Chelsea in the table, both encounters in that tournament have ended 2-2.

Although Jurgen Klopp’s bid to catch Manchester City has suffered a setback in recent days, the German still has a chance to win all three cup competitions this season, and the fact that he has previously defeated Chelsea in a knockout match cannot be overlooked.

Still, Thomas Tuchel’s side are masters of this kind of football. Under his watch, Chelsea have reached the final of every competition and it’s worth remembering they beat City in the Champions League showpiece despite some patchy league form. Two of the most entertaining sides in Europe, it’s going to be quite the occasion.

Date, kick-off time and venue

The FA Cup final is scheduled for a 4.45pm BST kick-off time today, Saturday May 14, 2022.

Wembley Stadium in London will host the match.

Chelsea vs Liverpool team news

Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi are absent for Chelsea but Tuchel has confirmed plans to risk Mateo Kovacic despite his ankle injury.

“Mateo wants to try it and the medical department gave the green light to try it,” he stated on Friday. “The ligament is anyway stretched from the last incident, so there’s no new injury but heavy pain, and it’s heavily swollen.”

Liverpool, meanwhile, saw Fabinho limp off during Tuesday’s win over Aston Villa and Klopp has since ruled the Brazilian out of action. Klopp did confirm that he will be fit for the

Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 28, however.

Andy Robertson was rested for that game at Villa Park and Mohamed Salah was brought off the bench. Both are all but certain to start this afternoon.
