Elden Ring: How to Build Elon Musk’s Tarnished | Screen Rant

FromSoftware’s latest title, Elden Ring, has become quite a sensation ever since its release, prompting many famous personalities, such as Elon Musk, to share their characters and builds. Although many of the developer’s previous releases, like Bloodborne and Dark Souls, have all been critically acclaimed and became widely beloved in the gaming community, Elden Ring’s success and popularity became so intense that many unexpected people have been talking about the game. Among those is the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk, who tweeted out his own build in Elden Ring.
Elden Ring, like most previous FromSoftware games, is known for its rewarding difficulty and amazing boss designs. However, unlike previous games, Elden Ring was the developer’s first foray into non-hub open-world games, creating a massive and mysterious land for players to explore, The Lands Between. As players find their way in this world, they will come across various armaments, items, and equipment that will influence the way they build their character and play the game.
Elden Ring provides players with plenty of choices regarding builds as players can focus on wielding slow heavy weapons, fast or ranged weapons, or even on many different types of magic. In Elon Musk’s build, we see a heavy investment in Intelligence, a powerful stat that can influence the damage of some weapons, like the Elden Ring‘s community beloved Moonveil, and the effectiveness of Sorceries, the game’s version of arcane magic. Musk also focuses on Dexterity, which is great for handling faster weapons and also reduces the casting time of spells in the game.

Musk’s character primarily focuses on leveling up Intelligence and Dexterity, which can synergize very well. Intelligence increases the power and damage of Sorceries, and Dexterity shortens the casting time, allowing for a fast barrage of powerful spells which can break the enemy’s poise, allowing players to perform a powerful critical hit. Dexterity also provides a bit of damage for Dexterity-based weapons, which can help defeat weaker enemies without spending Focus Points and can also be buffed with certain Elden Ring sorceries such as Scholar’s Armament.
Regarding armaments, Musk uses a shield in his left hand, which can be a great defensive tool for sorcerers, and a staff, a rapier, and the claws in his right hand. The staff is necessary to cast sorceries and is therefore crucial. Rapiers are very good Dexterity-based weapons, as they deal thrust damage, a damage-type that is very strong against most enemies. The claws are a great choice for weapon buffs, as these weapons are extremely fast and buffs apply damage per hit.
Like most players, Musk changes talismans around a lot, something that is often necessary to tackle the different regions and enemies in Elden Ring. Changing armor from medium to heavy is not often recommended as the utility that fast roll offers are too good to pass up. However, for those that have enough health and armor, it can prove effective to trade blows with some bosses, as heavy armor tends to offer more poise, which helps players not get their attacks interrupted.
As a final note, Musk also emphasizes the importance of summoning. Elden Ring is at its heart a multiplayer game, in which players can summon each other to help with different tasks. However, unlike previous FromSoftware games, Elden Ring offers players a much more in-depth summoning system. Players can find various summons in Elden Ring and also level them up, which can prove incredibly useful for most builds, but especially one such as Musk’s that relies on maintaining a certain distance.
Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
