On Married at First Sight, Alyssa Ellman divided fans after having one of the shortest relationships in the show’s history, and she has kept fans guessing with her controversial Instagram bio. In her short time on season 14, Alyssa managed to coin her own phrase, as she repeatedly said, “I’m a good person.” However, many fans have called her out for her harsh treatment of her husband, Chris Collette. While many viewers believe she made MAFS season 14 better thanks to her never-ending drama, others felt it was hard to watch her constantly gaslighting Chris. The latter group of fans were happy that the pair had an early Decision Day.

Throughout 14 Married at First Sight seasons, there have been several couples where one person is happy with the match (and attracted to their partner), but the other is not. MAFS season 3’s Ashley Doherty and David Norton come to mind, as Ashley was unhappy with her husband’s looks. These pairs are often doomed from the start, as those who are not attracted to their partners typically put in less effort. More times than not, the relationships end in divorce.

When Married at First Sight stars Alyssa and Chris chose to get a divorce, it was no shocker. However, how fast they made that decision was a surprise. The pair had one of the shortest marriages in MAFS history, as they barely made it past the honeymoon. Alyssa and Chris never had a successful conversation, as Alyssa wanted the perks of being on the show, like hanging out with the rest of the cast and living in the paid-for apartment, but didn’t enjoy spending time with her husband.

Fans have called out Alyssa, not only for the fact that she said she hated Chris without ever getting to know him, but because she seemed to be using the show for fame and a free vacation, rather than to find love. Like other MAFS cast members, Alyssa has kept her Instagram private, and she currently has just over 1.6K followers. She was able to poke fun at herself and her catchphrase, as she wrote “good person” in her bio. However, when she said “dog rescuer” and promoted a non-profit called Jet Wag, fans had some hilarious reactions. Jet Wag rescues dogs in the Bahamas, and Married at First Sight fans were confused as to why she would not try rescuing dogs domestically.

Redditor r/sybann said, “Looks to me like even the ‘rescuer’ gig was all about tropical vacations on somebody else’s money…” Other fans brought up the fact that Alyssa made a big deal of not moving in with Chris because she is allergic to dogs, despite the fact that she has a dog herself and works for this dog rescue organization. R/Belvyloaf said, “She’s only allergic to the husbands dog though bahahaha” and r/Aprkacb20 agreed, saying, “she didn’t even want to like the man’s dog…that’s cold!” While Alyssa did not stay on Married at First Sight for long, she left quite the impression with the show’s fans, on and off screen.
