Benue Pensioners Berate Ortom Over Negligence On Their Entitlements

Benue pensioners under the umbrella of Concerned/Aggrieved Pensioners have decried that the 35 and 74 months pension arrears and gratuity been owed local government and state retirees respectively by the Governor Samuel Ortom administration is insensitive.

Comr. Akose Orban chairman of the group told Naija News on phone on Monday that the governor was very insensitive for neglecting the state retirees even with the federal government bailout and Paris club refund intervention and other borrowings the administration has secured.

Akose said the situation has forced the retirees into untold hardship adding that majority of them can no longer afford their family bills.

The chairman disclosed that the group have already taken their situation to the anti-graft agencies like the EFCC, ICPC and the security outfit, DSS for intervention.

“Our predicament here in Benue is the governor’s negligence against the retirees. The governor has received some interventions from the federal government but has deliberately refused to look into our situation.

“Our members are dying on a daily basis, majority of us can no longer pay our family bills because the government has refused to look into our matter.

“We have decided to take our case to the anti-graft agencies like the EFCC, ICPC and the DSS for intervention” Akose explained.

Naija News recalls that the group had earlier last week staged a peaceful protest in demand for their entitlements.
