The Department of Small Business Development is now taking applications for their Risk & Integrity Internship Programme. Apply now!

The duration of the internship programme is twenty-four (24) months. The Department invites all suitable and qualifying graduates aged between 18 and 35, who are interested and who have never participated in an Internship programme before, to apply for the following Internship Programmes.

The South African government’s Department of Small Business Development is opening applications for its multi-discipline internship programme offerings for 2022. About the Department of Small Business Development

Established in 2014, the DBSD aims to develop Small, Medium and Micro-sized Enterprises and Cooperatives to be the nation’s center of economic growth and job generation.

DBSD Internship Programmes 2022

The DBSD offers various internship programmes for a number of disciplines and specializations. These internships will run for a period of 24 months and are as follows:

ICT Internship

  • Annual stipend equivalent to R105,856.50
  • Requirements:
    • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Systems, Informatics, or any relevant NQF 6/7 IT degree recognized by SAQA

Internal Audit Internship

  • Based in Pretoria
  • Annual stipend amounting to R105,856.50
  • Requirements:
    • Holds a SAQA-recognized Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma (NQF 7) in Accounting, Auditing
    • Academic achiever with leadership skills
    • Takes active participation in community programmes

Graphic Design Internship

  • Based in Pretoria
  • Annual stipend amounting to R105,856.50
  • Requirements:
    • Holds a SAQA-recognized Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma (NQF 7) in Graphic Design, Communications, Multimedia Design, or Visual Arts
  • Must be knowledgeable in the following digital design tools:
    • Adobe
    • InDesign
    • Photoshop
    • Dreamweaver
    • Illustration

Executive Support Internship

    • Holds a SAQA-recognized Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma (NQF 7) in Business Management, Public Administration, Development Studies, or Political Science

    • Takes active participation in community programmes

SCM Internship

  • Annual stipend amounting to R105,856.50
  • Requirements:
    • Holds a SAQA-recognized Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma (NQF 7) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Purchasing Management
    • Knowledgeable in PPPFA, PFMA, BBBEE, Treasury Regulations, and Supply Chain Management processes
    • Academic achiever with leadership skills
    • Takes active participation in community programmes

HRA Internship

    • Holds a SAQA-recognized Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma (NQF 7) in Human Resource Management, Public Management, Public Administration

International Relations Internship

    • Holds a SAQA-recognized Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma (NQF 7) in Political Science, International Relations, Business Development /Managemen

Entrepreneurship Internship

  • Annual stipend amounting to R105,856.50
  • Requirements:
    • Holds a SAQA-recognized Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma (NQF 7) in Economics, Entrepreneurship, Public Administration, Business Management, or Development Studies
    • Academic achiever with strong leadership skills
    • Takes active participation in community programmes

Who Should Apply?

Only candidates who satisfy the minimum eligibility requirements of the particular internship they wish to join are encouraged to apply. Moreover, applicants must be 18 to 35 years old and have never joined any Public Service internships in the past.

Requirements

  • An appropriate National Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/7) in Risk Management /Internal Audit /Forensic Investigations / Public Management / Public Administration or any related field as recognised by SAQA
  • Academic Excellence
  • Leadership Roles
  • Participation in Community programmes
  • should not have previously served as an intern or contract worker in the Public Service
  • must not be older than 35 years

How To Apply for Department of Small Business Development Internships 2022

Applications must quote the relevant reference number and consist of:

  • A fully completed and signed Z83 form
  • a recent comprehensive CV;
  • contactable referees (telephone numbers and email addresses must be indicated);
  • certified copies of all certificates and Identity Document copy and academic transcript/ record.
    • It is important to note that it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all information and attachments in support of the application are submitted by the due date. Failure to submit the required documents will result in the application not being considered.
