Annie Idibia, Omoni Oboli and Kate Henshaw have hailed their colleague Adesua Etomi after deciding to dump her wigs in place of a simple hairstyle.
Recall that Adesua earlier explained via her Instagram account the reason she has been settling for simple appearances and rocking cornrows to public functions for some time now.
She wrote: “I’ve been wearing cornrows a lot lately on purpose. I feel like my most authentic self when I wear braids, plaits or when I wear my hair out. If you’ve followed me closely, you’d know what I mean. You’d know this isn’t new. In general, I believe in keeping it simple. Whether it’s from my clothes to my hair, to my lifestyle. So I, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, am out here, holding it down for the simple girls.
“The ones who rock cornrows, the minimalists… I hope you look at me and feel pride KNOWING that these rows our ancestors wore are still a thing to be proud of. I hope you see me and rock yours with pride if you want to but above all, may you know that you are more than your hair no matter how you choose to wear it and more than your clothes, no matter what styles you choose to wear. I do this for the girls deemed ‘too simple’. There is not a single thing wrong with simplicity. We may be ‘simple’ but there is not a single thing simple about us. Raise your glass if you are a SG.”
In a swift reaction, Annie hailed the mother of one’s decision.
She wrote: “every word sooooo true…I Carry my low cut .. n melanin dark skin with so much pride n head up high ( no MORE wigs n unnatural hair for me)May we wear our hair n teach our kids to love their natural kinky hair n beautiful brown/dark /Carmel /albino skin with PRIDE ! Yup cheers to All the S.Gs u r amazing
Well said Sis…Our ancestors would be sooo proud …love u”
Kate Henshaw also praised Susu’s decision and also agreed to being a minimalist.
However, while Omoni Oboli admired Susu’s choice, she also maintained that not everyone could pull such a move effortlessly.
She wrote: “To be perfectly honest, I low key admire those who can SLAY every day effortlessly but know yourself nor be cursed. I kent”
